Is it possible that our universe is made up of strings? Maybe we live inside of a symphony or a horribly annoying pop song! What we can say for sure is that intelligent people have always tried to make music in every possible way because we love them, wobbly airwaves. So connecting the violin to a computer was always just a matter of timing. Luckily we live in the era when both were already invented.
5 String Theory is a brainchild of Alexey Kochetkov, who’s developing a whole new concept of augmented violin performance, in which the traditional instrumental techniques are enriched by possibilities of contemporary electronic music. Alexey plays on a peculiar five string violin and an octave violin which sounds like a mini cello. All that enhanced by live looping and digital sound effects creates one multidimentional sonic experience and reveals to its listener the deepest secrets of the 5 String Theory.
