Exhibition “conTEMPORARY TRADITION” by Filip Boyadzhiev in Kuker Berlin | 26-31.03.2021
In his second exhibition, under the title conTEMPORARY TRADITION, the artist Filip Boyadzhiev focuses on the devaluation of national icons and symbols. In our present reality, the term “homeland” is overused and distorted. We throw names and images around without context. We hide behind them, proud of the heroic past, however enslaved in the present. In this exhibition, Filip Boyadzhiev comments on these phenomena to the audience of the art space “Kuker Berlin” and tries to look at this serious topic without taking himself too seriously.
About the author: Filip Boyadzhiev graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, where he then taught until 2020. As a Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists he actively works in the field of graphic design and considers the mission of the artist-designer to be formative for the environment around us. He has specialised in identity building, orientation systems and multidisciplinary art projects. He is also the author of design projects for the development of the urban environment in Sofia.
The project is funded by the Creative Initiative Programme of the Bulgarian National Culture Fund.
